Chairwoman of The Lithuanian American Community Edita Buzėnienė and Member of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Asanavičiūtė-Gružauskienė visited the Archive
On July 29, 2025, the Lithuanian Central State Archives was visited by Edita Buzėnienė, Chairwoman of The Lithuanian American Community, and Dalia Asanavičiūtė-Gružauskienė, Member of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, accompanied by an advisor and an intern.
During the visit, the guests learned about the archive’s role and responsibilities, paying particular attention to the preservation and management of documents related to the Lithuanian diaspora. Deputy Director of the Archive, Sigita Baranauskienė, along with specialists, presented to the guests the path of written documents, audio recordings, films, and photo documents within the archive – from their acquisition, description, and public access, to encryption and storage in specially designed facilities. Archive specialists also showcased document restoration, digitization, and other archival processes.
The meeting also addressed the issue of preserving the historical memory of the Lithuanian diaspora and its significance for Lithuania. This visit served not only as an opportunity to present the archive’s work but also to strengthen ties between Lithuania and the Lithuanian American Community.
